ABOUT
The Pierce County Community Land Trust got its start during the pandemic when a few community members realized how significant the housing crisis had become– and that this crisis is unraveling the unique character, culture, and home of many residents and businesses in the area. Our early efforts will concentrate on partnering with community members, leaders, and private/public partners to establish a robust grassroots effort.
The first project is slated to be completed by the middle of 2025 and will involve land banking properties within Tacoma city limits, developing it to include affordable housing and rentals with outdoor green space. Eventually PCCLT will expand to develop mixed-use buildings with commercial space earmarked for Black-owned businesses.

We aspire to grow into a thoughtful organization that works alongside landowners, their families, and conservation partners to protect more than 10,000 acres in Pierce County.
Board Members
The Pierce County Community Land Trust is a black-led organization and our board members reflect the diversity of the clients whom we serve. Our board mirrors that of a traditional community land trust with a tri-partite board consisting of 1) resident representatives, 2) general community representatives, and 3) public representatives. Control of the CLT’s board is balanced to ensure that the community as a whole considers and determines the priorities of the organization and all interests are heard but no interest is ubiquitous..
